Website is back up

Howdy folks!  It was brought to our attention earlier today that the blog posts have either not been posting or have been deleting themselves all week.  We’re very sorry about the inconvenience, but rest assured everything has been fixed and things should be fine now.  For those who missed the postings, we will be re-posting them over the weekend for all to see.  So what does this mean?  You’ve got it.  Friday, Saturday, Sunday, AND Monday updates!  After that, we will return to our regular Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule.

Thank you again to everyone who visits our blog, and we hope it will be a valuable tool for you this spring and in the seasons to come.

Sincerely,

Holland Hume

No post today

Hi folks,

The current storm in the Pacific Northwest is preventing us from updating today.  We hope you all are safe.  Stay warm, and don’t go outside if you can help it.  We will return Monday with more new content.

Take care, and have a great weekend.

Howdy folks,

Sorry for the late notice, but we will not have a blog entry today.  We have been having server issues all day and have barely been able to get this message up.  However, we are confident that all of the issues will be resolved by tomorrow, so expect the regular blog schedule to resume on Friday with a clip of the week.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for frequenting our blog!

Sincerely,

Children’s Garden and Adult Education Garden

Good morning folks, and happy Monday!

Today I wanted to talk to you about the combination children’s garden and adult education garden we have here at Ed Hume Seeds.  It’s been around for several years and gets lots of visitors every season.

The garden consists of fifteen fun and educational garden areas, including the Quiz Garden, Blind Garden, Bird Garden, Flowering Plant area, Drought Garden, Native Plant area, Herb Garden, Maze, Crazy Garden, and more.  On tours for schools or children’s groups, children get to plant a seed, bulb, or cutting to take with them.  They also learn about tissue culture, grafting, cuttings, rhizomes, bulbs, and much more in a solar greenhouse.

We designed this unique garden just for children…but the adults insist it is an educational garden and is of as much interest to adults as it is to kids. So the staff has decided to open it to adult groups too!

The garden is open from May 4th to September 16th and is available for groups to come and tour.  Follow this link for more information about the garden, photos of the garden, and directions on how to reserve a day for your group.

The children’s garden and adult education garden is a wonderful summer event that is as fun as it is educational.  Contact us today to set up a time for your school, group of friends, art class, office, or club to visit our garden this summer.

Sincerely,

Ed

Clip of the Week: Preparing a Raised Vegetable Garden

Happy Friday!  How was everyone’s week?  I hope you all are able to take a break this weekend and rejuvenate for the next week.

This week’s clip of the week is about preparing your raised vegetable garden for this year.  And what’s the first, and one of the most important, things to prepare?  The soil!

As always, our videos can be viewed on our blip.tv channel (link to the right) or downloaded for free from the iTunes Store (search for “ed hume”).

Have a great weekend and we’ll see you here bright and early on Monday.

Sincerely,

Clip of the Week: Heeling In Your Plants

Happy Friday, everyone!  Have you noticed that there are some great deals at your local nurseries and garden centers this time of year?  But what do you do when you buy your plants, bring them home, and find the ground too wet or cold?  One great solution is a technique called “heeling in” your plants.  This week’s video covers the method in detail:

As always, our videos can be viewed on our blip.tv channel (link to the right) or downloaded for free from the iTunes Store (search for “ed hume”).

Have a wonderful weekend, and we’ll see you here on Monday.

Sincerely,

Ed
